Summer Internship Funding Application 2025 for Self-Designed Funding
 
Here are the most current details about the 2025 Summer Internship Funding Program.

Deadlines:  

  • International Internship Self-Design Funding deadline is Sunday, March 9 at 11:59 PM ET.  Late summer funding applications will not be accepted.   

    • Decisions for funding will only be made for applications that include a completed Organization Verification Form. The deadline to submit the Organization Verification form is Monday, March 10  at 11:59 PM ET. For ONLY juniors who have never received funding before, organization verification forms can be received by Friday March 15 at 11:59 PM ET.


    • Reminder:  Deadline for students currently studying abroad during spring semester and planning to intern in the same country is Sunday, April 20 at 11:59 PM ET and the deadline for international students interning in their home countries is Sunday, April 20 at 11:59 PM ET.  

 

  • Domestic Internships Self-Design funding deadline is 11:59PM ET on Sunday, April 20. You must submit your summer funding application with your internship of interest to be considered for summer funding.  Late summer funding applications will not be accepted.   

    • Decisions for funding will only be made for applications that include a completed Organization Verification Form. The deadline to submit the Organization Verification form is  April 21 at 11:59 PM ET.  For ONLY juniors who have never received funding before, organization verification forms can be received by Friday April 25 at 11:59 PM ET.

 

 Thank you for your interest in applying for funding through the Career and Civic Engagement Center for a summer internship. This is the Summer Funding Application for Self-Designed Internships.
 
Please provide us with some general information about your background and the unpaid or low-paying summer internship for which you are seeking funding. To learn about eligibility, please click here: Funding Program Eligibility.  
 
Please note that the funding award of $4,500 (for full-time) will be taxed as is standard for any form of income, so the actual amount disbursed to you will be closer to $3600.  The summer work experience is the foundation for your own personal development related to your future academic and professional goals.  

IMPORTANT: Students can apply for a self-design grant for one unpaid or low-paying internship. Once you submit this form, you will receive an email confirmation with your application answers. All applications must be through this form and must be submitted by the deadlines listed above. No PDF versions will be accepted.
 
A complete application includes:

(1) This Self-Design Application Form

 

(2) A one-page resume, personal statement, and internship proposal that should be uploaded through this Self-Design Application Form. Students applying for approved international internships will submit an additional essay about your preparedness to live and work abroad through this form.

 

(3) An Organization Verification Form from your supervisor, the hiring manager/internship coordinator, or someone who will be working at your host site (Please send your organization this link to complete by the same deadlines)

 
 

DEADLINE REMINDERS FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP FUNDING: Self-Design Grants

DUE Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 11:59pm ET (deadline extended)
International self-design that you have secured and are seeking funding for during the summer of 2025 AND that has received approval through the exception form submitted in early February.

DUE Sunday, April 20, 2025 at 11:59pm ET
Domestic self-design that you have secured and are seeking funding for during the summer of 2025.
